Petrol (95 E5) averaged €1.722 per litre across Spain on Tuesday 3 November, while diesel averaged €1.896, according to prices reported by stations to the Ministry for Ecological Transition. The ministry’s Geoportal recorded reports from 10,885 petrol stations and 11,226 diesel stations.
Prices vary by province
Petrol averaged €1.761 a litre in Málaga province, which includes the Costa del Sol. Diesel there averaged €1.941. In Alicante province, which includes the Costa Blanca, petrol averaged €1.754 and diesel €1.905.
Petrol was cheapest in Las Palmas, at €1.525 a litre, and most expensive in the Balearic Islands, at €1.816. Filling a 55-litre tank cost about €16.01 more in the Balearic Islands than in Las Palmas.
Prices in the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla are lower in part because those territories have a different fuel tax regime. Stations can change their prices at any time.
