Aemet expects Storm Bruna to bring widespread rain to Seville from midday on Sunday 8 November. The Atlantic system should spread rain across Andalusia and may last until midweek or beyond.

Seville faces widespread rain

Forecast models put the chance of rain at 100% in Seville city. The same figure applies to Coria del Río, Dos Hermanas, Espartinas and Alcalá de Guadaíra.

The chance is 90% or 95% across the southern Campiña. This includes Utrera, Los Palacios y Villafranca, Morón de la Frontera and Lebrija. In the Sierra Norte, Constantina and La Puebla de los Infantes have an 85% chance. Guadalcanal and Almadén de la Plata stand at 90%. Estepa and Herrera are at 75%.

Aemet expects the heaviest rain in western Andalusia. It also says the storm’s exact strength and position are still uncertain. The forecast may therefore change as Bruna moves closer.

Several wet days in the west

The Campo de Gibraltar also faces a wet start to the week. Rain is forecast there from Sunday and may continue until at least Thursday 12 November. All municipalities in the area have high rain chances through that date.

For Algeciras, eltiempo.es estimates 1.7 litres per square metre on Sunday. The forecast rises to 15.3 litres on Monday 9 November. It then gives 11.9 litres for Wednesday 11 and 12.5 litres for Thursday 12. These are forecasts, not measured totals.

The wind is expected to turn from levante to poniente from Sunday in the Campo de Gibraltar. Maximum temperatures there should remain near 22°C. Minimums should rise to between 16°C and 18°C.

Seville should also stay mild at first. Minimums may rise by about six degrees over the weekend to around 15°C. Highs should remain close to 27°C on Sunday, then ease from Monday. A wider Andalusia forecast says minimums could fall sharply as the storm develops.

Aemet says rain should cover much of the region, but timing and amounts remain uncertain. Residents should follow later forecasts as the Atlantic system approaches.
