Aemet puts east Almería under orange rain warning
The significant-danger warning covered Levante Almeriense from 7pm on 4 November, with up to 30 litres per square metre possible in one hour.

Spain’s state weather agency Aemet issued an orange rain warning for Levante Almeriense on Wednesday 4 November. The orange level means significant danger. It covered the east of Almería province from 7pm until the end of the day.
Aemet said the heaviest rain could reach 30 litres per square metre in one hour. The Andalusian emergency agency urged people to take extra care.
Yellow warnings also covered other parts of Almería, the Granada coast and the Strait of Gibraltar in Cádiz. Storms were possible in some of those areas.
Warning times and rain totals
Levante Almeriense had yellow warning periods before the orange alert. They ran from the start of Wednesday to 6am, then from 4pm to 7pm. Aemet gave thresholds of 15 litres per square metre and 60 litres over 12 hours. Storms could come with the rain.
The Strait area of Cádiz had a yellow warning from the start of the day until 9pm. Aemet warned of storms, 15 litres in one hour and up to 40 litres over 12 hours.
The Poniente area and Almería city had yellow warnings from 3pm to 9pm. The same hours applied to the Granada coast. The rain threshold given for these areas was 15 litres per square metre.
Across Andalucía, skies were set to be very cloudy. Showers could be locally heavy in the far east. Aemet expected stronger and more lasting rain with storms in Ceuta and the Strait.
Official safety advice
The Andalusian emergency agency asked people to avoid road trips in heavy rain and storms where possible. Anyone who had to drive was told to check road conditions before setting out.
Drivers were also urged to slow down and leave more space. The agency said people should not cross flooded roads or pools of water.
People facing an emergency can call 112 Andalucía. The line is free and open all day and night.
More rain may return
The outlook for Seville was calmer after Wednesday. Aemet gave the city a 35% rain chance during the afternoon and 20% overnight. Thursday and Friday were forecast to be far more settled.
The rain chance rose to 55% on Sunday. For Monday 9 November, Aemet put it close to 100%. A separate forecast said an Atlantic storm could bring heavy rain across Andalucía from the weekend, but noted that this was still uncertain.
