Canary Islands keep rain alerts across three western islands
La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera remain on alert, while Tenerife and Gran Canaria are under pre-alert after about a hundred weather-related incidents.

The Canary Islands government kept rain alerts in force on Monday for La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera, with pre-alerts for Tenerife and Gran Canaria. A separate storm pre-alert covers the western islands and Gran Canaria after about a hundred incidents linked to the weather front.
The regional emergency directorate said the measures were based on forecasts from Spain’s state weather agency, AEMET. Emergency control centre CECOES 112 has coordinated incidents in Tenerife, La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera.
Heavy showers may return
Renewed instability is expected on Monday evening and during the early hours of Tuesday, mainly across the western islands. The forecast includes locally very heavy showers, storms, hail and very strong gusts.
Authorities said the eastern side of La Palma needed particular attention because intense rain could return. Tenerife may see very heavy but more localised showers in the early hours, while lighter rain is expected in Gran Canaria. The more intense spell is forecast to ease from 06:00 on Tuesday.
A further, less intense phase is expected on Wednesday between midday and 19:00, chiefly in inland areas of the mountainous islands. Showers and storms could then move towards the coast.
Incidents and safety advice
Most recorded incidents involved electricity supplies, water removal from homes and businesses, overflowing drains and landslides on roads. A power cut on La Palma ended when supplies were restored at 10:30 on Monday.
The government advises residents to avoid road travel where possible, use main roads when travel is essential and never cross or park in ravines, low ground or flood-prone places. During storms, people should avoid exposed areas, high ground, isolated trees and metal structures. Anyone needing urgent help should call 112.
