Urda crash: all 69 victims identified and families notified
The CID says forensic teams have completed the identification process after Wednesday’s collision in Toledo province, while the provisional death toll remains at 69.

All 69 people killed in Wednesday’s rail collision near Urda, in Toledo province, have been identified and their families notified, the Centro Integrado de Datos (CID) said on Monday night. The provisional death toll remains 69.
The crash between an AVE and an Iryo train happened on 28 October. The latest figures replace Saturday’s count, when 13 victims had yet to be identified.
How the identities were confirmed
Forensic teams established 56 identities through fingerprints processed by the Guardia Civil’s Criminalistics Service. The remaining 13 were confirmed through DNA analysis by the National Toxicology Institute in collaboration with the Guardia Civil.
The CID said relatives were informed personally before each identification entered the official statistics. The relevant consular offices were also notified, and the remains of 55 victims were available to their families.
More than 60 professionals took part in the autopsies and identification work in Toledo. The Military Emergencies Unit provided logistical support until the process and family notifications were complete.
