Driver investigated after pedestrian dies in Palma collision
Guardia Civil officers located the 59-year-old after a relative alerted them; alcohol and drug tests were negative and the circumstances remain under investigation.

A 70-year-old pedestrian died on Sunday afternoon after being struck on the Ma-30 near Son Ferriol in Palma. The driver left the scene and was located shortly afterwards, the Guardia Civil said.
The collision happened at about 7pm, after dark. Emergency medical teams attended but could only certify the pedestrian’s death, and a court authorised the removal of the body at about 7.30pm.
Driver located after relative raised alert
The Guardia Civil said the pedestrian had been walking on the hard shoulder in an area where pedestrians were not permitted. The causes of the collision remain under investigation.
The 59-year-old driver contacted a relative, who alerted the authorities. Officers then found him. He told them that he had not seen the pedestrian and was unsure what had happened.
Alcohol and drug tests were negative. The driver is being investigated over a suspected road-safety offence and as the alleged person responsible for the collision.
