Police investigation
A neighbour called the 112 emergency number at about 9.34am after hearing an argument and shouting in the street. Emergency medical staff attended but could only certify the woman’s death from a stab wound.
Police cordoned off the area to gather evidence. The suspect had fled, but officers located and arrested him about two hours after the attack. He remains in police custody pending transfer to the judicial authorities.
The Provincial Judicial Police Brigade is investigating. Authorities have not established the relationship between the man and the woman, and the motive remains under inquiry. Police have not ruled out a possible link to drug use.
