At least seven die after migrant boat rescue near Lanzarote
Spain’s maritime rescue service recovered two bodies after rescuing an inflatable with 132 survivors; those on board said five other people who died had been thrown into the Atlantic.

At least seven people died aboard an inflatable rescued about 150 kilometres north-east of Arrecife, Lanzarote, early on Monday 2 November, according to Salvamento Marítimo.
The maritime rescue service said the Guardamar Urania reached the boat at about 5.20am and recovered two bodies. Survivors said five other people who died had been thrown into the Atlantic, although the circumstances remained unclear.
The Canary Islands emergency coordination centre, CECOES 112, said 132 survivors — 120 men and 12 women — were being taken to Lanzarote. It also reported episodes of violence among people on board.
Salvamento Marítimo rescued a second boat carrying 59 men about eight kilometres off Lanzarote’s north coast. They reached Arrecife at 6am.
