Alicante police arrest man over alleged delivery-account fraud
Police say the suspect took control of a woman's rider account, kept cash collected from orders and left debt registered in her name.

National Police in Alicante have arrested a 45-year-old man following a woman's complaint that he allegedly took control of her food-delivery rider account and used it for his own work.
Police detained him on suspicion of fraud, identity theft and document forgery. He was later taken before the duty investigating court in Alicante.
How the account was allegedly used
The woman told officers that the man had offered to help her register with a delivery platform. Once the account had been created in her name, he allegedly retained its access details instead of giving them to her.
When she asked for control of the account, police say he demanded €50 for the login details. She then filed a complaint.
Investigators allege that the man worked through the account and selected cash-paid deliveries while rejecting card-paid orders. Police say he kept money that should have gone to the businesses and the delivery company, leaving a debt attached to the woman's account.
The account carried the suspect's telephone number and email address, according to police. That prevented the woman from using those contact details to tell the platform what was happening.
Police investigation and court referral
Officers found that the man had previously been barred from the delivery platform following earlier incidents with the company. Police allege that he used the woman's personal details so that he could obtain another rider account.
After identifying the suspect, officers began searching for him and made the arrest. The case was then referred to Alicante's duty investigating court.
